PIoneer Legends

WNR CLUB BASED RULES

General – Spec class series of race cars developed in 1992 and are 5/8 scale fiberglass full-fendered versions based on the famed NASCAR modifieds driven by legendary drivers such as Fireball Roberts, Buck Baker, Curtis Turner, Speedy Thompson, and Banjo Matthews.

Cars – Chevy, Dodge, and Ford Legends cars (Pioneer kits permitted)

Motors – stock Pioneer Typhoon 18k (no other substitutes)

Motor Downforce – maximum 5 grams

Build rules – cars are run as Pioneer factory stock or may be updated using the unmodified body, chassis, and motor as follows:

Any manufacture’s axles (recommended - 54mm or 55mm), bushings (non-offset types only), guide blade (recommended - Scaleauto #1606/#1608 or Mitch 3d printed [contact Mitch for free replacements for club members]), braid, and wire may be used.

Material on the chassis in the area supporting the guide may be cleaned up or added to provide for proper support and operation of the guide blade.

The plug on the digital chip door may be remove to make room for weight

Wheels/Tires (recommended) – CB Design wheels (front - 15x8/rear – 15x10/11) with tires (front – Slot.it PT07 or equal (may be trued)/rear – Super Tires on 10mm rim - #ST1404R/#ST1405R/#ST2104R or on 11mm rim -  #ST1007R/#ST1008R/#ST2114R, or Quick Slicks on 10mm rim. - #CB35/#CB36/#CB44 or on 11mm rim - #CB47/#CB48/#CB49)

Gears – factory stock pinion and rear axle assembly w/stock spur gear or Slot.it 6.5mm 12 tooth pinion gear and Slot.it 33 tooth 18mm spur gear. (Note: no other substitutions for gears.)

Recommended axle spacers – one .100” spacer between the spur gear and wheel in rear/one .010” spacer between the spur gear and bushing in rear/one .010” spacer between the wheel and bushing in rear/one .040” spacer on each side of the front axle between wheels and bushings.

Tires for factory stock wheel setup:  front – factory stock (may be trued)/rear – Super Tires #ST1900S or Quick Slicks #PN150.
